Meet The Teachers

Abigail Simiele is an up-and-coming private voice teacher and music educator to the Lancaster community. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Lancaster Bible College, where she was an active member in the musical theater program, opera workshops, and choral studies. Post-graduate, she has worked intentionally on growing her private studio, as well as being involved in leading various theater camps and productions in the Lancaster area. Abigail specializes in working with younger students as they begin their journey of discovering their voice. From starting at the very beginning, to audition preparation, she is passionate about creating a safe environment where her students can connect with themselves and music in a new way. Experienced in many different genres and styles of music, she is inspired by finding music selections that both speak to the hearts of her students, and demonstrates their unique vocal instruments with precision and excellence.

A New York native, she has spent the last five years in Lancaster, and has come to find her home there. During her time in PA, she has worked with Creative Pursuits Academy on an educational and performance basis. She has enjoyed directing and music directing many various projects for the Academy over the past several years, as well as serving as the Artistic Director since the beginning of 2024. In whatever role she fills, she is honored and thrilled to help the theater-loving youth of the community find new opportunities to grow their passion for music and the arts.

Caleb Heckman is a versatile jack-of-all-trades, having worked around the Lancaster area for over a decade as an accompanist, actor, music director, director, choir director, handchimes director, and a private piano, voice, and acting teacher. He has been immersed in music since starting piano at the age of 7, and is proficient in piano, voice, and tuba, although he loves to dabble in a great many more instruments. Currently, Caleb teaches private lessons at Creative Pursuits Studio; Primary, Jr, and Middle School Choir at the Lancaster Academy for the performing Arts; and is the owner and operator of Creative Pursuits Studio and Managing Director for Creative Pursuits Academy. He works frequently in various capacities with theatre companies around the county, especially Servant Stage Company, Cavod Theatre, Susquehanna Stage Company, and FRWRD Dance Company.

As an educator, Caleb is a firm believer in the philosophy that no two students are alike, and he strives to learn what motivates and encourages each individual student and to teach them according to their own goals and interests. Besides teaching students of all ages to play piano and read music, he loves to help them explore creating and composing music, learning chords and playing lead sheets, and more advanced music theory and analysis. He works well with voice students who have a love for singing, especially musical theatre, and who are invested in growing in confidence with their instrument and who want to learn to work more closely with an accompanist. He also loves to combine his proficiencies as an actor, music director, and accompanist to coach musical theatre students in audition prep.
