Voice: Advanced Song Interpretation

Welcome to Advanced Song Interpretation! This class will take intermediate and advanced students to the next level in their performing repertoire. Taught master-class style, teaching artist Sarah Zahn will workshop students’ songs using techniques from NYU’s undergraduate-level song analysis class. Whether they perform or observe, students will take away concrete techniques to use in their work.

Class requirements: students wishing to sing should prepare a memorized song and bring sheet music in the correct key. All attendees should bring water, a notebook and pen or pencil.

Pre-registration is highly recommended. The first six students to register will be guaranteed an opportunity to sing. Those who observe may still have the opportunity to join in group and collaborative exercises.

Ages: 13+ to perform, 10+ to observe.
